As Christians, our main priority in life is to follow in Jesus’s footsteps and serve God. However, as our lives get busy and we juggle priorities, it’s not always easy to know the best ways to do that. In this article, we’ll focus on some of the ways that you can best serve God.
The Best Ways To Serve God
Love Others - One of the most fundamental ways to serve God is by loving others. In John 15:12-13, we are reminded of this:
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
Jesus and God explain that, above all else, loving others is the most important thing for us to do in our lives. In doing so, we are taking part in God’s love and spreading it throughout the world.
Be Patient - Another way to serve God is by being patient in our everyday lives. As the old adage goes, “Patience is a virtue.” By treating others with kindness and patience, we are thereby acting in a way that God wants us to, instead of turning to anger and aggression.
Help Those in Need - Serving God also means serving Jesus, and Jesus spent His whole life serving others, even when they didn’t believe in His message. Whether you do this by volunteering in your community and helping those who need it most, or simply making an effort to help others in your daily life, serving others is also a way of serving God.
Use the Bible as a Guide - Another way to serve God is by letting the Bible guide you. When you read the Bible and follow the teachings, lessons, and Commandments in it, you are better able to understand exactly what God wants His children to do on Earth. Staying familiar with the Bible helps you to remember these important lessons and make them a part of your life.
Evangelize - We are all called to serve God throughout our lives, but some of us go a step further and commit ourselves to spreading Jesus’s message, also known as evangelizing. This is one of the best ways to serve God because, in doing so, you are also helping to bring others to God and giving them the opportunity to serve Him as well.
